Add Contacts From an AOL Address Book

Import contacts from your AOL account into Constant Contact

While contacts in your AOL address book cannot be directly exported, there are ways you can copy the contacts for upload into Constant Contact.

AOL 9.05

  1. Sign into your AOL account and go to your AOL mail box.
  2. In the Mail Options drop-down menu, select Address Book.
  3. With your address book open, highlight all entries. 
  4. Click Compose.  All the addresses appear in the Send to: field. 
  5. Copy all addresses and paste into a MS Word document. 
  6. Press CTRL+F to open up the "Find and Replace" menu.
  7. Type a "," in the Find field.
  8. Type a  "^l" (to type a "^l", press Shift + 6 for "^" and then type a lowercase L) in the Replace field.
  9. Select Replace All. This inserts a return after each email address and puts all the addresses in one column.
  10. Copy the column and save the document.
  11. Open Excel and create a new spreadsheet.
  12. Paste the contacts you just copied from Word into the spreadsheet.
  13. Save the Excel file.
  14. Import the Excel file that now contains your AOL address book contacts into Constant Contact.
 

AOL 9.6

  1. Sign into your AOL account and go to your AOL mailbox.
  2. In the Mail Options drop-down menu, select Address Book.
  3. With your address book open, select the email addresses you wish to export.
  4. Click Send Mail.  All the addresses appear in the Send to: field of a new email message.
  5. Copy all addresses from the Send To: field and paste into a Microsoft Word document.  
  6. Press CTRL+F to open up the "Find and Replace" menu.
  7. Type a "," in the Find field.
  8. Type a  "^l" (to type a "^l", press Shift + 6 for "^" and then type a lowercase L) in the Replace field.
  9. Select Replace All. This inserts a return after each email address and puts all the addresses in one column.
  10. Copy the column and save the document.
  11. Open Excel and create a new spreadsheet.
  12. Paste the contacts you just copied from Word into the spreadsheet.
  13. Save the Excel file.
  14. Import the Excel file that now contains your AOL address book contacts into Constant Contact
 

AOL Mail

  1. Sign into your AOL account and go to your AOL mailbox.
  2. In the left-hand panel, click "Contacts".
  3. Click the Action drop-down menu (the gear shaped icon). 
  4. Choose "Export" from the list.
  5. Choose CSV for your File Type.
  6. Click Export.
  7. The file is automatically downloaded to your computer. 
  8. Import the Excel file that now contains your AOL address book contacts into Constant Contact.
 

AOL WebMail

  1. Log in to your AOL WebMail account.
  2. In the left-hand panel, click "Contacts".
  3. Go to the Tools button and choose "Export" from the drop-down options.
  4. Choose "Comma-Separated Value (CSV)" for the File Type.
  5. Click Export.
  6. Save the file to your computer.
  7. Import the Excel file that now contains your AOL address book contacts into Constant Contact.
