Adding Trackable Media Center Assets to Emails

In the Lead Gen & CRM platform, you can add trackable media to your emails, including images and videos.

Views of this media are tracked from the Media Center, helping you to monitor clickthrough performance and the success of your media. In this article, you'll learn how to add trackable Media Center Assets, including images and videos, to emails.

Note: The new editor focuses on rendering and ease of use. In the new editor, get the trackable link from your Media Center assets by going to the Media Center section of your Lead Gen & CRM account. Then, insert that link into your email. To directly insert media into your email from the Media Asset widget, access the older email editor by opening one of your existing, classic emails or classic email templates.

Preparing Your Media Asset

You can add trackable media assets (images and videos) that have been uploaded to the Media Center, and include them in emails to track visitors and traffic. These assets can contain links and when media inside your email is clicked, those link clicks are tracked from the Media Center page in the left toolbar.  

  1. Go to the Media Center. 


     
  2. Insert new Media or edit an existing media asset.

  3. Title your media. 
  4. Add a description for your media. 
  5. Make sure, Available in Emails is checked.
  6. Decide to upload your media directly or add the media by entering the asset's URL. 
  7. Upload your media file, or enter the URL. 
  8. Click Add Media.

  10. Click Add Trackable Link.

Insert Trackable Assets to Emails As A link

Make sure you have added a trackable link for your media asset. In the new and Classic editor, you can gather the trackable link from your media and then insert it into your email. In this example, we'll add our trackable link to an email using the new editor. 

  1. From the Media Center, click the Trackable Links dropdown.
  2. Copy your link.

  3. Go to the Email tab from the left toolbar.

  4. Create a new email or open an existing email. 

    Locate your email
  5. Insert content into your email and click on that content to add your link.
  6. In the Action section, select Open web page
  7. In the URL field, paste your trackable link. 
  8. Click Save

Insert Trackable Assets to Emails Directly

In the Classic editor, you can directly insert your trackable media into your email. The new editor focuses on rendering and ease of use. In the new editor, you must insert trackable media into your emails using a trackable link. To insert media directly into your email, without using a link, open one of your older email templates to access the older editor. 

    Create or edit an email from the Email page in the left toolbar. 

    1. Click into a content block in the Email Designer.
    2. Click + Insert.

      Click the + plus icon and select Media
       
    3. Click Media in the Email Designer toolbar.

      Important: Assets uploaded directly into the email will not be trackable. When possible, image and video media should be uploaded and attached to the email as a Media Center asset. Assets from the Media Center are trackable. 
    4. If you would like to include a preview of the asset directly in the email (clicking on the asset will display a larger version of the asset in a new browser tab), select Use Preview Image?
    5. Otherwise, enter the link text to display in the Link Text box.
       
      Note: When inserting trackable text, the text may appear as white. To fix this, highlight the text and set it to a different text color.
    6. Select the trackable link to be used. 
       
      Note: It's a good idea to title the links you're attaching to your media asset based on where you plan to use that link. Then, only use the link within specific areas of the business to maintain the integrity of your data. Titling the link is done within the Media Center.
    7. Click Insert Media.

    Save your email changes. Be aware that trackable links will not establish new tracking. If the link has been used in a previous email or another area of the business, all clicks will be included in the same tracking data. 

    Note: When adding a trackable link, ensure that the Available in Emails checkbox is checked.

    As trackable links are more generic links that are connected to your Lead Gen & CRM environment, the interaction with that media will only display in the Life of the Lead for leads that are already tracked.
