Add or remove tags from multiple contacts

Article: 000039072

Select multiple contacts and add or remove tags, or create a new tag to apply to the group

After you've created tags in your account, you can add them to, and remove them from, groups of contacts across multiple lists.

When you send your next email, you can then use tags to filter your list by only sending your email to the contacts that have the tag, or excluding your tagged contacts from receiving it.

Add a new or existing tag

If you've created all your tags ahead of time, it's quick and easy to apply them to groups of contacts as you need them. However, you don't need to create all of your tags ahead of time. Just select the contacts you want to tag and create the tags as you go. You can have up to 500 unique tags in your account.

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Contacts > All contacts.
  2. You're automatically brought to the Contacts sub-tab.
  3. Search for the contacts you want to tag.

  5. Click Actions > Add tags.

  6. In the Select tags field:
  • Existing tag - Start typing the name of the tag you want to apply, and when it displays, select it from the drop-down menu. You can add multiple tags at once, and even create new ones at the same time.
  • New tag - Type the name of the tag you want to apply and then select Tag Name (Create New) from the drop-down menu. You can create multiple tags at once and add existing tags at the same time.

  2. You're automatically brought to the Contacts sub-tab.
  3. Search for the contacts you want to de-tag.
