Prepare your logo to use in your campaigns

Having a single functional logo takes up less space in your Library than having multiple versions of the same logo. Before uploading your logo to the Library, there are a few things you can do to optimize your image so you can get the most flexibility out of it in your email designs:

  • Transparent background - By making your logo background transparent, you can ensure it matches your email's background color without any extra steps. Saving your logo as a PNG file allows for transparent backgrounds.
  • Larger sizes are better - When you upload a larger version of your logo, it's easier to scale down to smaller sizes without it appearing grainy. When your logo is small, it can appear pixelated when you enlarge it, limiting your design options. An image no larger than 650 pixels wide and less than 5MB is ideal.
  • Remove extra padding - When you resize an image in your email design, excess padding can throw off the balance of other design elements. You can remove some padding, but the best way to keep control over your design is to crop the excess white space from the image at the start. If you've already uploaded your logo to your Library, you can crop the image from within your Library or while editing an email.

Add your logo to your account settings

If you want to save time creating your emails, adding your logo to your account settings is a big help! Once your logo is added, it's automatically pulled into our email templates. If you want to replace your logo in an email, you can always change the image, and it won't change the image that's stored in your account settings for future emails.

Place your logo in your email

Your logo is your main visual identifier. When contacts receive your email, they see your email address, "From" name, and subject line, but they really start to see you when they open your email and lay their eyes on your branding. You want to make that first visual impression count! Top or bottom? Left or right? The answer depends on your email content.

Centered

The most popular place for a logo is to prominently feature it at the top of the email, making it the first thing your contacts see when they read it. The logo can be small and centered or can span the entire width of the email as a banner. Using a banner is a great idea for a Welcome Email because it's the first email your new contacts receive from you.

Left-aligned

If you're not planning to center your logo, make sure it's placed on the left-hand side since we read left to right. This ensures the logo remains the first thing your readers see, even when it's next to other content. Place a standout headline, your business hours, or a quote next to your logo to make the most of the space.

Bottom

While less common, placing a logo at the bottom of an email can be effective, especially if you keep your email short. Place your logo to the left of your social media icons or contact information to make effective use of the space. Make sure you brand your email with your colors and use your email header effectively so there's no doubt who it's from.

  • When your brand needs to take a back seat to your message, you can get away with placing your logo at the bottom of your email. Sending a birthday email that puts your contact at the center or promoting an event with its own branding are good examples.
  • If you're sending a series of emails, placing the logo at the top of the first email is effective and gives you the freedom to move it to the bottom of subsequent emails since you've already introduced your brand.
  • If your brand stands on its own, you can also get away with a logo at the bottom of your email.
