Save time and make a copy of an existing automation path to reuse the time delay, conditional splits, and email or SMS message content already built out within it

If you spent time building out an automation path that you love, and would like to use it as a model for a slightly different situation or contact segment, you can always make a copy of your draft or active path. You can add new steps or edit existing steps in the copied path, and you can even change the trigger.

  1. Click Marketing channels > Automations.

Marketing channels menu expanded with Automations option selected, and Automations dashboard

  2. To help narrow your search:
  • Select a path status from the Status drop-down menu.
  • Select an option from the Last modified drop-down menu.
  • Select a path based on its template type from the Goal drop-down menu.
  1. Next to the active or draft path you want to copy, click . . . > Copy.

Automations dashboard with Automation paths section, Status, Last modified, and Goal drop-down menu options, and draft path with menu expanded and Copy option selected

  2. Give your new automation path a unique name that you'll recognize in your account again later.
  3. Click Save.

Copy automation path overlay with enter a name for your campaign field and Save button

Now that your automation path is copied, you can further customize it to make it more unique:

Exclamation Point IconImportant: Having more than one active automation path with the same trigger can result in a contact receiving duplicate emails if they meet the criteria for each path. For example, if you have a welcome path that triggers when a contact joins any list and also a welcome path that triggers when a contact joins a specific list. Make sure that paths with duplicate triggers are either deactivated or changed.
