Add, edit, or remove an SMS message using the Automation Path Builder

Add an SMS message or a series of messages to a path, move messages to a different part of your path, update message content, or remove an email from a path

Sending SMS messages through the Automation Path Builder offers endless possibilities to reach the right contacts at the right time with personalized content that has a high likelihood of being engaged with.

Add an SMS message action to a path

Your SMS message content may be short, but you can pack in a ton of information!

1. From the Actions section of the Path builder, drag a Send an SMS step into your path. An SMS message action must fall below the path trigger, but it can come before or follow after any other action or rule.
   Tip: If you're sending to contacts who aren't opted into SMS, add a Conditional split Rule to your path and select the "SMS status" condition and "Subscribed" value. The Send an SMS action should be the first step in the "Yes" path.
2. Drop the SMS message anywhere there is a plus sign. An SMS message can also be dragged from anywhere within the path to a plus sign if you want to change its current location in the path.
   
   
   
   
3. Click the three dots on the Send an SMS step in your path, and select the "Edit" option.
   
   
   
   
4. Give your new SMS message a unique name.
5. Click the Continue button.
   
   
   
   
6. Use the SMS message editor to customize your content. Your message can include a personalized name, a single URL, and emoji. Not sure what to write? Try our AI Content Generator tool. Learn more.
7. Click the Save and close button in the upper right-hand corner of the editor to return to the Path builder.
   
   
   
   

Repeat the steps for each SMS message you want to add to your path.

Edit an SMS message's content

If you need to make changes, it's easy to edit your SMS message.

1. Click the three dots on the Send an SMS step in your path, and select the "Edit" option.
   
   
   
   

You're taken to the SMS editor and can rename the SMS message, update the message content, including adding personalization, emojis, and a single URL. You can use the AI Content Generator if you need a little help writing your message.

Remove an SMS message action from a path

When you delete an SMS message action, it can't be undone, but it's easy to add another one if needed.

1. Click the three dots on the Send an SMS step in your path, and select the "Remove" option.
   
   
   
   
2. Click the Delete button to confirm the action.
