Send an SMS message to a segment

Add a segment of SMS contacts to a list and then send an SMS message to the list

It's possible to send an SMS message to a segment created with our Segment Builder, as long as you add the segment to a list:

  1. Create a segment using the Segment Builder. Make sure to include the following SMS activities criteria so that you capture contacts with SMS permission and an SMS phone number within your segment:
    SMS status is Subscribed

  2. Add the segment to a list.

    Expanded Segment settings in the Segments tab in Contacts  
  3. Create an SMS message and select the list. Your list is only available to select if it has contacts that opted into SMS marketing.

    Note: Variables can be used within your messages, but they cannot be used within a URL. For example, creating an SMS with the message "Visit our website at mycompany.com/[[City]]" will result in an error and prevent the SMS from being sent.
