Export your email or SMS contacts into a spreadsheet

Create a back-up file of your email and SMS contacts by exporting their information into a downloadable CSV file or Excel spreadsheet

Did you know? We're in the process of making improvements to our contact management experience and rolling them out to our customers. If your contacts table looks different, view this article for exporting contacts instead.

Important: If you need to track the permission status of your contacts for CASL or the GDPR, make sure the Advanced Email Permissions are enabled before you export your contacts. The exported spreadsheet doesn't include the permission status unless the permissions are enabled.

Exporting your contacts doesn't remove them from your account, but gives you a hard copy of their information that you can open in Excel or other spreadsheet programs.

1. Open the Contacts dashboard, and follow the steps depending on what you want to export:

• Export all of your contacts
• Export contact search results
• Export contacts by email or SMS status
• Export tagged contacts

2. Select all the fields you want to include in your exported file.
3. Click Export. CSV files can be opened with Excel.
   Note: If you have over 300 contacts, or if you want to download an Excel spreadsheet instead of a comma separated value (CSV) file, the download is available on the Import and Export Activity page for 7 days after you export the data.
   
   
   
   
4. In the success banner, click the Download CSV button to save your spreadsheet.
   
   
   
   

Export all of your contacts

1. From the Lists, Segments, Tags, or Contacts tab, click . . . > Export All Contacts in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
   
   
   
   

Export Contact Search Results

If you need a list of all your contacts with the same company, or who live in the same city, you can search for them and export the results into a spreadsheet.

1. From the Contacts tab, search for the contacts you want to export.
   Note: You can also view a specific list and search through only the contacts on the list to further narrow down your search.
   
   
   
   
2. Select all the contacts in your search results.
3. Click Actions > Export.
   
   
   
   

Export contacts by email or SMS status

If you need a list of all your unsubscribed contacts, or all the contacts who have granted you express permission to email or send SMS messages to them, you can filter your list by email or SMS status types and export the results into a spreadsheet.

1. From the Contacts tab, click All Statuses and select the email or SMS status you want to export.
   
   
   
   
2. Select all of the contacts.
3. Click Actions > Export.
   
   
   
   

Export tagged contacts

1. From the Tags tab, select the tags you want to export.
   Note: If you just want to export the contacts associated with a single tag, click . . . > Export on the right-hand side of the specific tag.
2. Click Actions > Export.
