Setting Up DKIM with GoDaddy

Article: 000050432
Updated: July 26, 2024

Configuring DKIM setting tells email servers that an email is authentically coming from you. Learn how to setup DKIM settings for the domain provider GoDaddy.

DomainKey Identified Mail (DKIM) and Sender Policy Framework (SPF) work in tandem to authenticate Lead Gen & CRM's emails.

That way, even though emails are being sent from a Lead Gen & CRM-owned server, the receiving server knows that email is coming from you. This is an incredibly important step you must take before sending emails out of Lead Gen & CRM.

This article will detail how to set up DKIM and SPF if you are using GoDaddy.

Adding CNAME Records in GoDaddy

Once you have verified the domain that you want to send from, you can begin adding CNAME records to GoDaddy.

To add CNAME records in GoDaddy’s DNS Settings, do the following:

  1. Log in to GoDaddy or your DNS provider.
  2. Select Manage My Domains.
  3. Select the domain you want to authenticate.
  4. Scroll down to Manage DNS.
  5. Click Add, located under Records.
  6. Choose CNAME as the type.
  7. For the host value, use the first half of the Name field under CNAME Records that is before your domain:

       •  With host information, instead of adding
           em.makeyourmarketing.com, only add em.

       •  With domain information, only
           add s1._domainkey or s2._domainkey.
  8. For points to, copy the entire Data field under CNAME Settings.
  9. Repeat this process for all CNAME records in the CNAME Settings page.

Note: When adding the host or domain value, GoDaddy automatically will append the domain to your host. As such, you will only need to add the first portion. The first half of the Name field will appear in a similar fashion to the following example:

s1._domainkey.
makeyourmarketing.us

Note: The TTL field can remain as the default value.

Important: The host and domain information regarding the Name field also applies to other web hosting services, such as Network Solutions.
