Changing your Constant Contact password

Update your Constant Contact password with a strong password that is easy to remember but not easy to guess

Constant Contact password requirements

There are just a few things to keep in mind when creating a password:

• Passwords must be at least 12 characters long.
• Passwords can contain alphabetical letters (A-Z) and (a-z), numbers (0-9), special characters (! @ # $ etc.), and spaces.
• Passwords should not contain any part of your username.
  Ex: username: xyz@abc.com
        password: xyz123 (or) abc678
• Your new password cannot be the same as your last password.
• Your new password cannot be one that's listed on an industry database we check of easily guessed or compromised passwords.

Best practices for a strong password

When you change your password, you want it to be both strong and something you can easily remember. Here are some tips to help increase account security with a strong password:

• Make it memorable - Long passwords are better for security, but may be hard to remember. Using a "pass phrase" (for example, Brown foxes have 4 feet!) is the best of both worlds, helping to make your password more memorable and secure.
• Mix it up - Spread numbers and symbols throughout your password instead of tacking them on to the end. It makes it super easy to remember a password when you just tack a 1 on the end when it's time to change it, but it also makes it super easy to guess!
• Never the same as other logins - Don't use the same password for multiple website logins. It's probably the single most important thing you can do to protect your data. It may be easier for you to remember, but if a hacker guesses your password, the first thing they're going to do is try it on other sites!
• Don't go for the obvious - Avoid common passwords. Number strings, like 123456, a birth date, strings of letters that are next to each other on the keyboard, like "asdfgh," or the word "password" make terrible passwords.
• Change it on a regular basis - Change your password regularly. An especially good time to do it is when an employee leaves your organization, especially if they had access to the password. It's not just a disgruntled employee you have to worry about, though. A good employee can be forgetful and expose your password, too! Did you know Constant Contact offers different user roles that allow your employees to log in with their own username and password, so that you never compromise your own?
• Add an extra layer of security - To keep your account more secure, we send you an email with a one-time verification code whenever you log in from a device we don’t recognize. However, you can choose to verify your identity using a different secondary factor, such as a push notification to your mobile device, by enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) instead.

Important: If you're using a password manager, make sure it has a good reputation and encrypts data at rest (digital data you don't access regularly). And don't forget to use a strong password to protect your password manager!

Steps to change your password

1. Access your account settings.
2. Click Edit in the Password section.
   
   
    
3. Type your existing password in the Enter current password field.
   Tip: Click the eye icons to reveal what you're typing.
4. Type your new password in the Enter new password field, using the Password Strength meter to help you create a strong password.
5. Re-enter your new password in the Confirm new password field.
6. Click Save.
