Merge multiple contact lists into a single list

Article: 000032812
Updated: September 15, 2023

Select multiple contact lists and combine them into a single list to better organize your contacts

When you merge multiple contact lists together, you can choose to move all the contacts from your selected lists into a new list, or just move them into an existing one. If you want to create your new list ahead of time, that's fine too! Once you merge contact lists together, it can't be undone.

  1. Click Contacts > All contacts.
  2. Click the Lists tab.

Contacts menu expanded and All contacts option selected, and Lists tab selected

  3. Select the lists you want to merge together.
  4. Click Actions > Merge.

Lists table with multiple lists selected, Actions menu expanded and Merge option selected

  5. From the drop-down menu, select the list you want to merge all of your selected lists into. If you need to create a new list, select the "Create a new list" and give your new list a unique name.
  6. Click Merge.

The lists are merged together onto a single list, and the original lists are left as-is — you can rename or delete them later. Sometimes a single contact can be part of multiple lists. If one contact is on multiple lists being merged together, the contact only appears once in your resulting list. If the same contact is on other lists that weren't merged, they remain on those lists. You can view their contact record to see all the lists they belong to.
