Import Google contacts into Constant Contact

Quickly import contacts out of a Gmail account and into Constant Contact through our Google integration

Our Google integration lets you add your Google contacts to an existing list or a new list in your Constant Contact account. Import all of your Google contacts at once, or specified groups of contacts only. You can do a one-time import or set a frequency to have contacts automatically imported on a regular basis.

Connect your Google account

Important: Contacts are only imported from Google if they're listed in the Contacts app. If you don't see a group of contacts, they may be stored as "Other Contacts," and have to be moved into the Contacts app before you can export them.

1. Click Integrations.
2. Under the "All Integrations" tab, either search for Google Contacts or scroll through the list to locate it. Then click on the block.
   
   
    
3. Click Connect.
   
   
    
4. Click Sign in with Google.
   
   
    
5. Enter your email or phone number associated with your Google account and then click Next.
   
    
    
6. Enter your password and then click Next.
   
    
    
7. Click Continue.
   
   
   
   
8. Read the terms and conditions and click Continue if you agree.
   
    
    
9. On the Google Contacts integration dashboard, click Import contacts.
   
    
    
10. Choose to import all contacts from Google or specific contact groups. If you choose to import specific contact groups (these are the "Labels" you've created in Google), you can only choose one group. Then click Continue.
    
     
     
11. Select the contact list you'd like to import contacts into, or create a new list.
12. Select how often the list should be updated from Google: one time, every day, weekly, or monthly. If you frequently add contacts to your Google account, it's a good idea to choose the "every day", "weekly", or "monthly" frequencies to stay current. 
13. Choose whether to overwrite or merge contacts.
14. Click Continue.
    
     
     
15. Check the box to confirm you have permission to send.
16. Review the summary and then click Import.
    
     

You'll then be brought to your Google Contacts integration dashboard, where you can see a list of all your imports, along with the status and details of each. When you create a new import, it will initially be listed in an In Process status.



Once the import is complete, the status will update to Success.

When importing from Google, you have flexibility to choose which Google Contact groups to import, giving you the flexibility to segment your contacts within Constant Contact. If you want to segment these contact lists even further in order to send specific, targeted messaging, you can do so by creating a custom segment of contacts.
