Export a segment of contacts into a spreadsheet

Create a back-up file of your custom or prebuilt segments by exporting them into a downloadable CSV file or Excel spreadsheet

Exporting custom or prebuilt segment lets you save a static list of the contacts that are currently in the segment at the time you export it. Exporting your segment doesn't remove it from Constant Contact, but gives you an electronic back-up for your records.

The CSV download is available on the Import and Export Activity page for 7 days after you export the data. CSV files can be opened with Excel or other spreadsheet programs.

Did you know? If you're looking to export even more detail about the contacts in your segment, like their list membership, custom fields, tags, or SMS consent date, add the segment to a list first, and then export the list.

Export a custom segment

1. In the left-hand menu, click Contacts > Segments.
2. In the Segments you've created section, click . . . > Export next to the segment you want to add to a spreadsheet.
   
   
    
3. Select the contact information you want to include in your file.
4. Click the Export button.
   
   
    
5. Click Check Activity to view the Export Activity page and download your CSV file.
   
   
    

Export a pre-built segment

1. In the left-hand menu, click Contacts > Segments.
2. Under the Pre-built segment section, choose the engagement level you want to work with and click . . . > View contacts.
   
   
    
3. In the upper right-hand corner, click . . . > Export.
   
   
    
4. Select the contact information you want to include.
5. Click the Export button.
   
   
    
6. Click Check Activity to view the Export Activity page and download your file.
