Change the DPI (Dots Per Inch) scaling or screen resolution settings to prevent stretching and distortion when reading an email in Outlook

If you've sent an email with images and are getting complaints that the images appear distorted or stretched, and you followed our suggested image size guidelines, it's probably not anything you did when you created the email! The issue is most likely with the DPI (Dots Per Inch) scaling settings on the computer the email is being read on, and usually affects Outlook users.

The DPI scaling or screen resolution settings control how large the font, desktop icons, and applications are on your desktop. A lower DPI setting makes things appear smaller, and a larger setting makes them appear larger. If what your contacts see on their computer monitors isn't clear, have them try changing their display settings. Choosing a display appearance of "Smaller" or "100%" yields the best results:
