Why can't I email my registrant's guests?

Article: 000053015

When hosting an event, if you're collecting an email address from the primary registrant's guests on the registration form, learn why event emails will not be sent to them

If you're allowing registrants to bring guests to your event, and you collect an email address from each attendee on your registration form, this does not give you permission to email guests. When you send an event email to registrants, only the primary contact - the person who completed the registration - will be emailed.

Below is an example registration form in which the email address is being collected from each attendee with the "General Admission - Guest" ticket type. The primary contact, and the one completing the registration, is Leigh and the guest is Marsha. Therefore, Leigh will be sent event-related email, and Marsha will not.

Registration Form collecting email from guests

If you plan on adding the email addresses collected from the registrant's guests to a list, you must have explicitly received this request from each email address holder.

If it's necessary to email each attendee, then you should require each attendee to complete a registration for themselves, instead of allowing the primary contact to purchase multiple tickets.
