Refund an event registrant

Process refunds for event registrants that paid using PayPal or Stripe

When you are selling tickets or merchandise for an event, there may be times when you need to issue a refund to a registrant if they cannot attend or to all registrants if your event is canceled. If your registrant made a digital payment, you must follow the refund process within the appropriate payment processor:

  • PayPal refunds - Click to see the steps for refunding a PayPal payment. PayPal charges a fee of 3.49% + $0.49 for each ticket sold or transaction conducted. These fees are not refundable. Please note that the PayPal fee may vary depending on your specific agreement with PayPal. Please follow up with PayPal with any questions.
  • Stripe refunds - Click to see the steps for refunding a Stripe payment. Stripe charges a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for each ticket sold or transaction conducted. These fees are not refundable. Please follow up with Stripe with any questions.

You can see how a registrant paid by viewing the registrant details, accessed via the Registrants table on the event dashboard. Processing a refund doesn't automatically cancel an active registration in Constant Contact. Once the refund is complete, you can update their payment status to "Refunded" and cancel their registration, if necessary.
