Anonymous Survey Page respondents

Article: 000039507

When respondents to your Survey Page are anonymous because we can't associate an email address with their response

When you share a Survey Page through a Constant Contact email, we're able to assign the individual responses back to each email address the survey was sent to because the survey link is customized for each contact that receives it. However, there may be times when you want, or don't want, anonymous respondents. Here's how anonymous respondents work:

Why survey respondents are anonymous

If you see "Anonymous" respondents when viewing your survey results, it's because we were unable to associate an email address to a contact in your account. This can happen whenever people click on the same permanent URL for the survey because it lacks the unique customization available when the survey is shared through an email.

Ways to share a survey that result in anonymous results

Respondents become anonymous when you:

  • Share your survey through a social post, where the permanent URL is automatically included.
  • Paste the permanent URL into a social post, or paste the URL into a post created directly in a social media profile.
  • Paste the permanent URL into a webpage or blog post.
  • Paste the permanent URL into an email sent outside of Constant Contact.
  • Share the survey in an email sent through Constant Contact, but the survey link was altered using a URL shortener or similar service.
  • Paste the permanent URL into an SMS message, where the survey link is automatically shortened.
