Leaving the ListBuilder app open on your tablet makes it easy for you to gather email addresses at your register, at a trade show, or at a craft fair table, but you don't want the public to be able to navigate away from the app and have access to the rest of your device. By putting your tablet into a "kiosk mode" you can leave the app open, and users won't be able to navigate away from the app without having a passcode. Both Android and iOS devices have built-in features to help you:
Enable Guided Access for an iPad
Guided Access lets you keep a specific app open and disable hardware buttons and links so that you can prevent the app from being closed and prevent access to different parts of the app.
- Open your Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Accessibility.
- In the Learning section, tap Guided Access.
- Tap Passcode Settings to require a passcode to leave the ListBuilder App.
- (Optional) Return to the General section and select Display & Brightness to set the Auto-Lock to "Never." This prevents your screen from locking when the tablet isn't in use.
- Press the Home button on your tablet.
- Open the ListBuilder app.
- Update your form content and tap "Go to form >."
- Quickly press the Home button three times.
- Tap Guided Access.
- Toggle the Touch option to enable it.
- Draw a circle around the "Edit Form" link.
- Resize the block to cover the entire "Edit Form" link. This will prevent the link from working when someone tries to tap on it.
- Tap "Hardware Buttons" and enable the keyboard so your contacts can enter their email address, but disable all the other options.
- Press the Home button to return to ListBuilder sign-up form.
When you're ready to disable Guided Access, quickly press the Home button three times and enter your passcode. Tap End in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Enable App Pinning for an Android Tablet
App pinning lets you open an app on an Android device and allows only that app to be used until it is unpinned. When you couple app pinning with an "Admin Pin" in your ListBuilder app, it prevents you from navigating away from the Sign-up page in the ListBuilder app.
Android devices vary, and may have slightly different directions for the particular model and operating system you're using:
Android 9.0 (Pie), Android 10.0, and Android 11.0
