Unable to connect WooCommerce to Constant Contact

Article: 000034401

Follow these troubleshooting steps in WordPress if you're unable to sync WooCommerce with your Constant Contact account

A benefit of using WordPress is that it's open source software (OSS), meaning its developers are free to modify and enhance the source code. Because this includes WordPress plugins, they can sometimes interact with each other in unexpected ways. If you're having trouble connecting WooCommerce to your Constant Contact account, it's likely an interaction between plugins in your WordPress account causing the issue. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to resolve this.

Update activated plugins in WordPress

Review the WordPress plugins that you have installed and activated, and make sure they are all up-to-date. If any of your plugins need to be updated, this can be done manually:

  1. From the WordPress Dashboard menu on the left-hand side, click Plugins.
  2. Look down the list of installed plugins for any that include a line reading that a new version is available. Click “update now” to update the plugin.

Deactivate plugins not being used in WordPress

If you have any activated plugins that you are no longer using, we suggest deactivating them in case one of them is causing the problem.
  1. From the WordPress Dashboard menu on the left-hand side, click Plugins.
  2. Click "Deactivate."

  3. Click "Delete."

Additional troubleshooting in WordPress and Constant Contact

Issue 1: General issues

If the integration is experiencing unexpected behavior, check the Integration details page to confirm that the store name appears. From your Constant Contact account, click Integrations > Connected Integrations > WooCommerce.

  • Example: Store name displayed:

    WooCommerce Dashboard Store Name Visible

  • Example: Missing store name:

Store Name Missing from WooCommerce Dashboard

If the store name does not appear, then the connection is likely in a bad state. Uninstall and reinstall the integration by following these steps:

  1. Disconnect the integration within Constant Contact by going to Integrations Connected IntegrationsWooCommerce. Click the three dots, and then click Disconnect.
  2. Deactivate and remove the plugin from WordPress.
  3. Re-install and re-activate the plugin in WordPress.
  4. Re-connect WooCommerce to Constant Contact. Follow the same steps you used to connected WooCommerce for the first time.
  5. Confirm that the store name shows up on the Integration details page and that your contacts are syncing.

If these steps don't work, continue to Issue 2, below.

Issue 2: Blank dashboard page, contact sync stuck in "Updating", store name doesn't appear

Some security programs like SiteLock, Sucuri Website Firewall, or GoDaddy Firewall may block our requests. The security software provider needs to safelist our IP address 208.75.122.36.

Issue 3: 404 Page Not Found/This page could not be found error after installing

An issue can occur when using the WordPress "Plain" permalink type. The type needs to be changed for the installation, but can be changed back once the integration is successfully connected. To update this setting, within WordPress:

  1. From the Dashboard menu on the left-hand side, click Settings > Permalinks.
  2. In the "Common Settings" section, choose any setting but "Plain."
