Import your Salesforce contacts manually without using an API or plug-in

If you'd rather not use the Constant Contact for Salesforce integration to transfer you Salesforce contacts, you can bring them into Constant Contact manually:

  1. Open Salesforce and click the Reports tab.
  2. In the Account and Contact Reports section, click "Mailing List" (or any other report that lists the contacts which you want to copy into Constant Contact).
  3. Select the "Tabular Format" report format from the preview drop-down.
  4. Click Run Report.
  5. Select which contact details you want to export.
  6. If you don't want to further customize the report, click Export Details in the lower-left corner of the page.
Note: If you want to customize the report, you may do so now.  When you are ready to export it, click the Export Details button and follow steps 6-10.
  7. Leave the Export File Encoding selection alone. In the Export File Format menu, select Excel Format .xls or Comma Separate Value Format .csv.
  8. Click Export.
  9. Save the exported file and open it.

After you've exported contacts from another program, be sure to format the file to ensure the contact fields match up before importing it into Constant Contact.
