Create an email using a dedicated GDPR or CASL template to ask your existing contacts to provide express consent for you to email them

Express consent to send email is obtained when you ask your potential contacts for permission to send them emails, they agree, and you document the agreement. We've got you covered with templates designed to collect express consent:

As with any template, you can add your logo, change the colors to match your branding, and customize the message. Every Constant Contact template also always includes a "SafeUnsubscribe®" link in the footer.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), anyone sending marketing emails must obtain and document express consent from their contacts. We've created a GDPR template so that any contact who clicks the button in the template is immediately documented as giving their express consent to receive emails from you.

  1. Create an email, and in the template picker, enter "GDPR" into the search field.
  2. Place your cursor over the template thumbnail and click Select to start editing it. Alternatively, if you're using a touchscreen device, tap the template thumbnail and then tap Select.

Choose a template page with Search field and GDPR keyword, search results with template thumbnails

  3. Customize the template with your branding and any other content you’d like to update or include. If the template has red placeholder text, you can type over it to replace it with your specific information or use the insert option to add your organization's information. The red text is just there to catch your attention and has no other functionality.
Important: The existing button is designed to document express consent from each contact who clicks on it. If it gets deleted, the functionality breaks.
  4. Click Continue when you're finished to schedule your email.
