Why Am I Being Asked to Re-Connect My Account(s)?

To establish and maintain this connection, Ready Social requires certain mandatory permissions during the account linking process. These permissions enable Ready Social to interact effectively with your social media profiles. However, if these permissions are revoked or altered, the connection between Ready Social and the social media platform is disrupted, resulting in data retrieval and post-publishing issues.

Reasons You Might Need to Reconnect Your Account

There are several reasons why you may need to reconnect your accounts on Ready Social.

Here are some of the reasons why this might occur and how to resolve it:

  • Password Change: If you change the password for a particular social media account, the access token that Ready Social uses expires automatically. This means you’ll need to reconnect the account to restore the connection.
  • Password Deletion: The scenario where reconnection is needed is when the app password is deleted in the profile. This will stop the scheduling process for connected Bluesky profiles.
  • Expiration of Access Tokens (e.g., Facebook): Some social media platforms, like Facebook, only allow third-party tools to share content on your account for a limited time (typically 60 days). After this period, you’ll need to reconnect your account to continue using Ready Social's features.
  • Removal of Ready Social From App Directory: If you remove Ready Social from the app directory of a social media account (e.g., through Facebook Business Integrations), Ready Social loses access to that account and any related pages or groups. Reconnecting the account is required to restore functionality.
  • Missing Roles or Permissions: In some cases, you may not have the necessary roles (such as Admin or Editor) on the Facebook account, or certain permissions might have been deactivated when granting Ready Social access. Without these, Ready Social cannot manage the account correctly, leading to partial or total disconnection.

Reconnecting After Ready Social Is Removed From Business Integrations

If Ready Social is removed from your Facebook Business Integrations, all the Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, and Instagram Business profiles connected under that Facebook profile will be disconnected.

Follow the steps below to reconnect your accounts on Ready Social:

  1. Go to the Manage Accounts page. Here, you will see any accounts that need to be reconnected marked with an error message.
  2. Click on the account that requires reconnecting. Select the Reconnect button, which will direct you to the social media site to reauthorize the connection.
  3. Follow the prompts to re-enter your password and grant all necessary permissions in the authorization dialog box.

⚠️ To avoid this issue in the future, do not remove Ready Social from your Facebook Business Integrations. Keeping Ready Social connected ensures that all your pages and groups remain accessible.

How to Access Facebook Business Integrations

Follow the steps below to access Facebook Business Integrations:

  1. Open your Facebook profile page and click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Settings and Privacy > Settings and go to Security & Login from the left menu bar.
  3. Select "Business Integrations" and look for "Ready Social" in the list of apps. Ensure it remains connected.

If you accidentally removed Ready Social, it can be found under the "Removed apps" section. Ensure that you reconnect Ready Social to Facebook to restore functionality.

 

Addressing Account Disconnection Due to Missing Roles or Permissions

Facebook has recently updated its user experience, which affects how certain features are accessed, particularly regarding Facebook Pages and Instagram Business accounts. To ensure that Ready Social can manage your accounts effectively, you must have the correct Roles and Permissions.

Roles/Task Access

If you are using the Classic Pages experience, six roles determine access levels. To use all Ready Social features, you must have either:

  • Admin: Full access to all features.
  • Editor: Access to all features except designating roles.

For those using the New Pages experience, task access is required. You must have the following task accesses:

  • Content: Create, manage, or delete posts, stories, and more. Respond to comments and update Page information.
  • Messages and Community Activity: Respond to direct messages, manage unwanted content, and report activity on the Page.
  • Insights: View Page performance, content, ads, and other metrics.

Permissions Access

When connecting your Facebook or Instagram Business accounts to Ready Social, ensure that you grant all necessary permissions for optimal functionality. Here is what these permissions allow:

  • Manage Content: Create, edit, and delete posts directly within Ready Social.
  • Respond to Messages: Engage with your audience by managing direct communications.
  • Retrieve Analytics: Access detailed insights to refine your marketing strategies.
  • Boost Posts: Promote posts to reach a wider audience effectively.

Missing any permissions will limit the functionality within Ready Social.

Fixing Missing Roles or Permissions

If you are experiencing disruptions in using Ready Social due to missing roles or permissions, it may be a result of changes in team structures or updates in privacy settings on platforms like Facebook. This can affect how you manage your social media through Ready Social. Here is what you can do to fix it.

  • Missing Role: If you lack the necessary role (e.g., Admin or Editor) or task access (e.g., Content, Messages, or Insights), Ready Social will notify you of the missing role when you try to manage the account. To resolve this issue, please contact the Administrator of the Facebook Page and request the necessary role or task access. Once granted, return to Ready Social and click Refresh to update your access.

  • Missing Permission: If you did not grant all required permissions during the initial account connection, or if permissions were later removed, Ready Social will display a message indicating the missing permission. To fix this, click the Reconnect button next to the message and follow the prompts to reauthorize the connection, ensuring all permissions are granted.

Reconnecting Accounts With Missing Roles and Permissions

In cases where both roles and permissions are missing, you will encounter limitations in accessing certain Ready Social features. Here is how to address this:

  1. Contact the Facebook Page Admin to obtain the necessary role or task access. Once this is granted, refresh your Ready Social page to update the connection.
  2. Reconnect your Facebook Page to Ready Social, and during the reauthorization process, ensure that all permissions are granted. This will enable full functionality within Ready Social.

By ensuring that all roles, tasks, and permissions are correctly assigned and maintained, you can fully utilize Ready Social features for your social media management needs.
