Each social media platform has unique image dimension requirements. If the images you want to schedule exceed the platform's limitations, Ready Social automatically optimizes them to ensure your posts are published smoothly. However, if the image dimensions are incompatible with the selected platforms, Ready Social will display an error message: “Incorrect image dimension.”
To resolve this issue, you can either resize your image to fit the platform's specifications or crop it to the appropriate aspect ratio. Ready Social offers built-in tools for both solutions, eliminating the need for an external editor.
Let us see how you can crop an image on Ready Social:
Click Edit next to the error message under the image.
Choose a predefined aspect ratio or select the Custom option to manually crop the image. Adjust the image within the frame to focus on the desired area.
After cropping, if the image still doesn’t meet the platform's requirements, another error message will be shown. You can undo, redo, or revert all the changes.
📋 Note: If you encounter crop errors on multiple platforms, Ready Social offers a quick fix. For example, if you are posting to Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile, and the image dimensions are incorrect for Instagram and GBP, you can edit the image in one tab. When applying the changes, the tool will prompt you to apply the fix across all platforms. Clicking ‘Yes’ will correct the dimensions for all selected platforms.
Follow the steps below to resize an image on Ready Social and get rid of those error messages:
Select the Resize option from the left-hand side menu below the Crop tool. The current width and height of the image will be displayed at the bottom of the image preview.
Clicking the lock icon between the width and height fields will maintain the current aspect ratio while allowing you to change the dimensions.
📋 Note: Resizing changes made to the original draft of the image will apply to all platforms. If you need to make platform-specific changes, switch to the relevant platform tab and then make your edits.
