UTM parameters allow you to track your social media campaigns and understand where your traffic is coming from. Ready Social provides the ability to add UTM parameters to the links you share in your posts, helping you measure your campaigns' ROI efficiently.
Here is how you can set up UTM parameters:
Click on Add UTM Parameters.
Now comes the utm_medium. Select its type and put in the value according to your choice. You can add 5 more fields of your choice to customize the parameter further. However, this is not mandatory.
Now, when you go to the UTM Parameters menu from the Setup you will be able to see all the UTM sets you have created. You can edit these links from the same menu.
📋 Note: Setting UTM parameters as default will ensure they are applied across all posts created through 'Create Post,' 'Bulk Schedule,' and other scheduling methods. This default can be overridden later when creating posts.
Creating UTM parameters on Ready Social is an easy task.
Let us take you through it step-by-step:
Click the UTM icon, select the desired UTM set from the dropdown.
Choose your preferred scheduling option. If URL shortening is enabled, the UTM parameters will not be displayed in the preview but will still be attached.
Note that when you turn on URL Shortening, the UTM parameter in your link will not be visible in the post preview. But rest assured, it has been attached to your link.
If you go back to edit an unpublished post, the links in it will still contain the previously applied UTM parameter. The same applies when you duplicate a post. You can remove the UTM parameter from a given post by going to the UTM dropdown list in the composer and selecting “Remove UTM Tracking” at the top of the list.
However, when you reshare a published post, the UTM parameter you added to it will not be carried forward. Instead, the default UTM set will be applied. If no parameter is set as default, then none will be appended to the link in the post while resharing.
📋 Note: Edits to unpublished posts retain their UTM settings. When resharing published posts, the default UTM set applies unless manually changed. UTM parameters can also be applied to RSS feeds and bulk-scheduled posts, ensuring comprehensive tracking.
