To access Salesforce via an API, you will need to provide a security token. In Salesforce, this security token is a data key that is used in tandem with your password. Together, the token and your password allow for more security overall. This article will detail the process to reset and retrieve your Salesforce token.

As the token is needed to access Salesforce, it is important that you keep information on the token. In the event that you misplace your token, you will need to reset your token.
Unfortunately, Salesforce does not provide the ability to view your token within its web application. Due to security reasons, if you cannot remember your token, you must reset your token in order to retrieve it.
To reset your personal security token, do the following:
Once you have reset your token, Salesforce will send you an email containing the new security token. It is absolutely imperative that you save this email to a safe, secure location. Otherwise, you will need to reset your security token every time you need to access Salesforce.
