One of the most important steps in marketing automation is getting your leads tracked in Lead Gen & CRM. Once a lead is tracked, you can see when they do certain things—such as when they open an email, click a link in that email, visit a page on your site, fill out a form, or view a media asset.
Tracking leads is a crucial step in knowing your audience and customizing content based on their behavior. Lead Gen & CRM provides users with the option to track the website activity from leads that have been manually added to the platform.

A lead can become tracked in one of these ways:
A Lead Gen & CRM tracking code needs to be placed on every page you would like tracked. You will need to have a separate code for each site that you use, including a new code for each subdomain. For the tracking code to be effective, the lead also must have cookies enabled in their browser. Most leads do, but some turn it off by personal preference or via a company profile.
In addition, tracked leads will appear in VisitorID email results. These results are emailed to you at a set rate of time. Refer to Configuring Daily VisitorID Results for information on how to set which user roles receive VisitorID emails and how to configure sending settings.
You can attempt to establish tracking for a single lead.
To track single leads, do the following:
When the lead clicks on the link in the email, the lead will then be directed to your website with the tracking code. As such, the lead will be tracked within Lead Gen & CRM.
Important: The selected email must include a link to your website that has a tracking code. If you do not have a link that takes your lead to your tracked website, then your lead will not be tracked.
You can attempt to establish tracking for a group of leads through sent emails.
To track leads, do the following:
When any of the leads click on the link in the email, the lead will then be directed to your website with the tracking code. As such, the lead that clicked the link will be tracked within Lead Gen & CRM. Each lead in the group will need to individually click the email to be tracked.
Important: The selected email must include a link to your website that has a tracking code. If you do not have a link that takes your lead to your tracked website, then your lead will not be tracked.
You can determine if a lead is associated with any form of tracking.
To determine tracking status, do the following:
This will show you how many if any, devices are tracked for that lead. This will also provide information as to the lead's operating system, browser, monitor resolution, and TrackingID.
Additionally, Lead Gen & CRM saves the activity and visit history of anonymous visitors before they are tracked. Once tracking is established, that anonymous activity becomes associated with the tracked lead in Lead Gen & CRM.
