Manually resend an email to contacts who did not open the original

Article: 000005990
Updated: January 21, 2025

Resend an already sent campaign if you forgot to select the "Resend to Non-Openers" option while sending the original email

When you have contacts who don't open your email, it's a great idea to spend a little extra time and effort to try and win them back. If you forgot to check the box to automatically resend your email to non-openers when you sent the original email, you have the opportunity to manually resend your campaign to non-openers. You'll be able to update the subject line, but you can't edit the content of the email itself. If you want to make edits to the email before resending it, copy the sent email instead.

Exclamation Point IconImportant: This feature for manually resending an email to non-openers is only available for emails that were sent within the previous 10 days. If the campaign is older than that, you can resend the email using the Did Not Open report.

  1. Click Marketing channels > Email.

Marketing Channels dropdown with Email option

  2. Locate your sent campaign from the list and click . . . > Resend....

Email page, Sent Email, More Drop-Down, and Resend option

  3. Select Resend to non-openers.

  4. Select the date and time you want the email resent. You can choose between 12 hours and 10 days after the original send date.
Tip: Of all the contacts who will open your Constant Contact email, 89% open within the second day of having received it, and 93% open by the third day. Waiting for the fourth day to resend ensures you're less likely to resend an email to someone who was already going to open - which could be seen as spam and result in complaints or unsubscribes!

  5. Update your subject line to differentiate it from your original email and avoid having your resend marked as spam. The preheader will be the same as the original email.
  6. Click Confirm.

If you change your mind about resending the email, you can cancel it from the Email Details page any time before the resend date you chose.
