Tips for ideal survey length

Short and focused surveys with specific objectives get the best response rates

Surveys create two-way dialogue between you and your customers. They can provide the insights needed to retain existing customers and attract new ones. For a better response and completion rate, your survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Typically, surveys with 10 or fewer questions fit this guideline.

Consider these tips when creating your next survey:

  • Know Your Goal - Before you begin to write your questions, define the purpose of your survey and determine what exactly you want to get from the results.
  • Break It Down - If your survey addresses multiple topics, consider dividing it into several smaller surveys.
  • Respect Respondents' Time - To find out how long it takes to complete your survey, you can preview it while it's in Draft status without affecting its results. Use your survey's description or introduction to tell respondents about how much time they'll need to set aside.
