Understand what impacts your monthly invoice and how you’re charged for Constant Contact

Your monthly bill is based on a combination of the plan you've selected and your contact tier. Read through the information below to get a better idea of how and when you're billed for Constant Contact.

Breakdown of your bill

From the Billing tab within your Account settings, you can see your:

  • Current plan - This is the plan you're subscribed to. If you wish to change your email plan, you can do so by clicking the Upgrade or View plans button.
  • Contact tier - Your contact tier is based on the highest number of active contacts you’ve had in your account. For more information, please see your monthly invoice.
  • Billable contacts - The highest number of active contacts you've had in your account during the current billing period who you can email.
  • Account balance - If you prepay for your Constant Contact plan, we deduct your monthly invoice from your account balance.
  • Invoice date - This is when we pull funds from your account balance or payment method.
  • Payment plan - This designates whether you're billed monthly or if you prepay for your account. All customers are invoiced monthly regardless.
  • Estimated monthly bill - This is how much we’ll deduct from your account balance or charge the payment method on file on your next invoice date.

Common questions 

Why did my price go up?

Your monthly bill is a combination of the plan you've selected plus your contact tier. If your number of active contacts increased during the last billing period, you will move to a higher contact pricing tier. These charges are reflected in next month's bill. You can check your plan and pricing from the Account settings page.

Constant Contact also has a monthly email send allowance. If you exceeded the allowance during the billing cycle, you're charged an overage fee. Learn more about Constant Contact’s email send allowance and overage fee.
 

What if I delete contacts?

To ensure we are accounting for your contact needs, the highest number of contacts you’ve added to your account determines your contact tier. Deleting contacts does not lower the contact tier.
 

What if I don't send a campaign during the month?

You're still charged your monthly fee even if you don't send a campaign. Paying the monthly fee keeps your account active so you can continue to store and manage your contact list, collect new contacts through sign-up forms, and access your reporting.
