Prepay options for accounts billing out of India

Customers in India are no longer eligible for a monthly payment plan and must update their account to a 6 or 12 month prepay payment plan to continue service

Customers in India, who set up monthly payments for their Constant Contact account through an Indian bank, are experiencing payment failures due to a change in India's banking policy and must update their payment plan to ensure continued service.

What changed?

Starting on October 1, 2021 banks in India are no longer allowed to process auto-renewable transactions worth over 5,000 rupees without additional consent from account holders.

This is an industry-wide issue that doesn't just affect Constant Contact customers. Please visit the Reserve Bank of India's website for more information.

How does this change impact my Constant Contact account?

Due to this banking policy change, customers in India with monthly payments through an Indian bank are no longer eligible for our monthly payment option and must select a new payment plan. We offer two additional payment options:

  • 6 month prepay - Includes a 10% discount on your plan and the active contact price rate.
  • 12 month prepay - Includes a 15% discount on your plan and the active contact price rate.

As a reminder, an automatic email notification is sent to the authorized billing contact for your account when the balance is running low.

How do I tell if my account is impacted?

If your account has a billing address in India and you don't already have a prepay plan, you'll see a banner in your account until you're able to update to a prepay plan:

Error message banner with "Due to a change in Indian banking regulations, you need to upgrade to a 6 or 12 month prepay plan in order to continue using this account. Click here for more information." text and Due to a change in Indian banking regulations, you need to upgrade to a 6 or 12 month prepay plan in order to continue using this account. Click here for more information." text, and Update my billing button

Clicking the Update my billing button brings you to My Account so you can update your billing information. Once you're selected a 6 or 12 month prepay plan, the banner is removed from your account.

How do I switch my payment plan?

There are two ways to switch from a monthly payment plan to a 6 or 12 month prepay plan:

We regret the disruption to your service and are available for support through this transition.

What happens if I don't update my payment plan?

Accounts that are not updated from a monthly payment plan to a 6 or 12 month prepay plan will eventually be cancelled. However, if your account has been closed you can reopen it and update your payment plan.

We hope you will update your billing and continue being a part of the Constant Contact community.
