Move an account that was once just a referral to a managed account

If you have an account that was once just a referral that now is looking for your services, you have the ability to change this account from a referred status to managed. You may also need to move an account to managed after moving an existing account into your partnership.

To do this, you need to log in to your personal Constant Contact account, the one given to you when you became our partner. Once you complete the steps below, your client must then approve the switch:

  1. Click the Accounts tab.
  2. Click the Home sub-tab.
  3. Click on the hyperlinked number in the Referred Accounts section.

Accounts tab, Home sub-tab selected, and Referred Accounts section with hyperlinked account total

  4. Find the account you want to re-categorized as managed and click the Request permission to manage button next to it.

Accounts tab, Accounts sub-tab selected, referred accounts list and Request permission to manage button

  5. From the Choose account type menu, select “Request Access.”
  6. Click the Save button. This enables a section within the client's account for them to approve your request for managed access. Until given access by the customer, you will see a “Cancel permission request” status notification.

Change Account Type overlay, Choose account type drop-down menu expanded with Referred Account option selected, and Save button

After you have requested access, the customer must follow these steps to grant you access to their Account:

  1. Log in to their Constant Contact account.
  2. Click the user icon in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Select the “My Account” option.
  4. Click the Billing tab.
  5. Scroll down to the Your solution provider section.
  6. Click the button adjacent to “Partner access enabled.”
  7. Click Confirm.

If your customer would like the steps in writing, you can share this article for granting access with them as a reference.

Exclamation Point IconImportant: Please note that the before clicking 'Confirm,' the customer sees a disclaimer message stating that this action will grant the partner full access to their account. We strongly recommend that you set the proper expectations with your customers ahead of time to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding.

If you are moving an account to Referred, you can earn New Account Bonuses and revenue share if:

  • The account moves under your partnership within 60 days of conversion, or
  • The account moves under your partnership within 60 days of your deployment as a Partner.

Constant Contact will not pay New Account Bonuses or revenue share if neither qualification is met. However, if you’re moving an account to managed, you can earn New Account Bonuses and revenue share on all accounts moved under your partnership. An account in the managed category will earn revenue share even if it was moved beyond the window to earn a New Account Bonus.
