Add or remove tags from a specific contact

Add or remove existing tags from an individual contact or create a new tag while editing a contact record

Tags are labels you can add to your contacts that help you segment your audience. After you've created tags in your account, you can add them to and remove them from individual contacts by editing their unique contact record, or you can create new tags while editing your contact.

  1. In the left-hand menu, click Contacts > All contacts.
  2. You're automatically brought to the Contacts sub-tab.
  3. Find the contact you want to edit.

  4. Next to the contact you want to update, click . . . > Edit. Then you can either:

When you send your next email, you can use tags to filter your list by only sending your email to the contacts that have the tag, or excluding your tagged contacts from receiving it.

 

Light Bulb IconDid you know? If you have a large number of contacts that need to be updated with tags, you can update them all at the same time by importing a file with a "Tags" column. Learn more.

 


Create a new tag

When you create a new tag for an individual contact it becomes a tag option for all of your contacts. You can create up to 500 unique tags in your account.

  1. In the Tags section, click the Create tag button.

  2. Add your tag name into the field.
  3. Click Create.

  4. The new tag is automatically selected for your contact. Click Save.

Add an existing tag

If you've already created tags for one contact, you can add them to other contacts just by checking the box for the tag in each contact record.

  1. In the Tags section, check the box next to the tag you want to add.
  2. Click Save.

Remove an existing tag

Removing a tag from your contact doesn't completely remove the tag from your account.

  1. In the Tags section, uncheck the box next to the tag you want to remove.
  2. Click Save.
