Set up your Instagram Business Profile

Create and customize your Instagram Business Profile to use with Constant Contact integrations for posting ads and creating posts on Instagram

Getting exposure on social media and engaging with your customers and supporters in a meaningful way is an important part of your marketing plan! If your target audience skews to the younger side (ages 18 - 29) or you're trying to target travel, health, beauty, fitness, fashion, art, or photography lovers, engaging is easy to do through Instagram. Instagram is a platform for visual storytelling, and by creating an Instagram Business Profile, you can post images and video content that your customers and supporters can share, like, and comment on. Then you can stay engaged by responding to likes and comments. Having an Instagram Business Profile lets you take advantage of our social media tools for advertising your organization, and growing your list too!

Create your Instagram Business Profile

Exclamation Point IconImportant: Although you can create and access your Instagram account from a desktop computer, it lacks some of the features and functionality of the Instagram mobile app. We recommend creating and managing your Instagram account through the app on a mobile device. A  Facebook Business Page is required to set up an Instagram Business Profile.

 

Before you can create a business profile on Instagram, you have to create an Instagram account. The account is then converted to a business profile when you connect your Facebook Business Page.

  1. From the Instagram app, tap the profile icon.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top right corner.

  3. Select Settings

  4. Scroll to the "For Professionals" sections. Tap Account type and tools

  5. Select Switch to professional account

    Choose Page Option
     
  6. This will prompt you to switch your account to a professional account. Click through the screens by selecting Continue.

  7. Click which category best describes your account.
  8.  Hit done.

  9. Choose whether you are a business or a creator. 
  10. Select Next to proceed.

  11. Insert any further contact information to add to your account. Once completed, tab Next

  12.  (Optional) Continue with the prompts and log into Facebook to merge your business account with a Facebook page.

  13.  Lastly, finish setting up your Professional Account on Instagram to fully complete your profile.

Your business profile is created and you're almost done! It's time to create a post to start getting your name out there.

Light Bulb IconDid you know? On Instagram you can follow anyone you want, but growing your followers takes a little more work because you can't ask others to follow you through the app. To get started, make sure your Instagram profile is linked on your website or blog and add an Instagram icon in your emails. If you're planning on offering exclusive content through Instagram, try sending an email to your existing contacts asking them to follow you and explaining the benefits of why they should follow you.

Use Your Instagram Business Profile with Constant Contact

Having an Instagram Business Profile gives you access to great features that help you grow your list, expand your audience, and build your presence on social media.

  • Social Posts and Monitoring - Create posts for Facebook and Instagram, view the reach and engagement of your posts, and respond to comments all from within your Constant Contact account.
  • Facebook and Instagram Ads - Create ads on Facebook and Instagram, or just on Facebook to drive Facebook users to your webpage. You can target your ad audience based on location, age, gender or interests, or you can create a Lookalike Audience based on the demographics of your current Constant Contact contacts.
  • Facebook and Instagram Lead Ads - Generate new leads and grow your contact list with Facebook Lead Ads. Ads can be targeted based on interest, age, gender, and location or based on the demographics of your current Constant Contact contacts.
  • Social Media Icons - Make sure your contacts can find your new Instagram Business Profile by including an Instagram Icon in your email; just copy and paste the URL for your Instagram page. You can even change the color and style of the icon to better match your branding.
  • Image Library - Reuse the beautiful images you created for Instagram in your emails by importing them into your Constant Contact Library.
  • Custom Landing Page - Choose the "Social Profile" template for a Custom Landing Page and add all your social media links, then share the shortened URL in your Instagram Bio to promote your entire web presence from one place!
