Pause and resume a Facebook and Instagram Ad or Lead Ad

Temporarily prevent an ad or lead ad from being seen in the news feed on Facebook and Instagram, to stop spending your budget

You don't have to wait the full duration of your Facebook and Instagram Ad or Facebook Lead Ad to remove it from view in Facebook and Instagram. Pausing your ad is a good way to extend your budget! Disable the ad at any time, and then turn it back on again when you're ready. You ad budget isn't affected until you resume the ad.

 

Exclamation Point IconImportant: If your Facebook and Instagram Ad or Facebook Lead Ad passes its end date while it's paused, you need to edit the Budget & Schedule section to extend the end date before you can resume the ad.

   


Pause an active ad

Pausing your ad prevents your ad budget from being charged until your ad is resumed.

  1. Click Audience growth ... > Ads. 


     
  2. Next to your active or scheduled ad, click ... > Pause.
    • Note: You can also click the Manage button to review your ad, and then click the Pause button at the top of the Ad Details page. To help narrow your search: 
      • Select "Active" or "Scheduled" from the Status drop-down menu.
      • Select an option from the Sort By drop-down menu.

Resume a paused ad

Once your ad is resumed, you'll continue to be charged until you reach the total budget set for the ad. Your billing is processed through the Facebook Ad Account that is linked to your ad and not through Constant Contact.

 

  1. Click Audience growth ... > Ads


     
  2. Next to your paused ad, click ... > Resume.
    Note: You can also click the Manage button to review your ad, and then click the Resume button at the top of the Ad Details page. To help narrow your search:
    • Select "Active" or "Scheduled" from the Status drop-down menu.
    • Select an option from the Sort By drop-down menu.
