Add your contacts' details to an email

Article: 000006916

Personalize your email by including your contact's name, city, or other detail you've collected from them

Adding contact details to your email, such as a first name, city, or state, lets you personalize the content for each contact and makes it look like you wrote the email just for them. Using custom fields takes it a step further and lets you customize your email with details that are unique to your organization.

While editing your email:

  1. Click in the block and place your cursor where you want to add the contact detail within the text.
  2. From the toolbar, click Insert > Contact Details.
Note: You may need to click the ellipses to see all of the toolbar options.

Insert Drop-down Menu and Contact Details Option

  3. From the drop-down, select the contact detail or custom field you want to insert.
  4. The contact detail or custom field appears blank in the email for contacts who don't have that information on file, so make sure to include backup text in the Fallback field to display for those contacts.
  5. Click Insert

Select a detail drop-down, Fallback text field, and Insert Button

When you preview your email or send a test, the contact detail displays the personal information you provided for your own account to give you an idea of what your contacts will see. If the information isn't available to pull into your preview, or if you're using custom fields, the fallback text displays instead.
