Frequently asked questions

Will I be charged tax as a US customer?

If you're a business or nonprofit in the United States, you will be charged sales tax based on the rules for your state and location. If you're a nonprofit that received exempt status for sales tax from your state, you must provide appropriate documentation.

 

Will I be charged tax as an international customer?

If you're located outside the United States, you may be charged VAT, GST, HST, or PST based on your country's rules. Please see details for taxability in India.

  • Australia, Canada, European Union, & UK: As a US-based company providing services to businesses and organizations, Constant Contact is not required to collect VAT, HST, GST, or PST, and a reverse charge will apply instead. Please check with your accountant or tax advisor for further information.
  • Other Countries: We do not currently collect tax in countries not addressed above. However, these rules may change at any time, and our information will be updated accordingly.

 

Will I be exempt from sales tax if I am tax-exempt per the IRS?

IRS rules apply to Federal income tax. Exemption from income tax does not automatically provide exemption from state and/or local sales tax. To be exempt from sales tax, you must be given sales tax-exempt status by your state and provide proof of sales tax exemption.
